Minutes of the meeting of 9/6/16
Meeting Opened at: 5:15pm
Select Board Members Present: Kenn Basler, Chairperson, Steve Weisz and Carol Edelman
Also in attendance: Jon Sylbert, Don Clawson, BJ Johnson, Stan Ross
Miscellaneous Items Reviewed:
1. The Boards reviewed the most recent expense reports from the Accountant.
2. Relationship between the Select Board and Finance Committee, clarify everyone’s roles. The Board wants to move together as a team and avoid issues that led to this special town meeting being rescheduled.
a. The Finance Committee plans to come up with a set policy and schedule for the budget process by the end of this month.
3. Review special town meeting warrant items:
a. The monies being asked to pay the grant writers – the Finance Committee is concerned that we are asking for $18,000 with no guarantee of receiving anything in return.
b. The Finance Committee will hold an informational meeting prior to the special to answer any questions on the warrant.
c. The Finance Committee had a lot of questions about the $40,000 being requested for a broadband consultant. The Board answered their questions.
d. The Finance Committee had issues with the 2 articles asking for money for Lake Garfield, he stated that we have given Lake Buel over $30,000 and have seen no results from those efforts. Steve explained that the money being requested for a consultant for Lake Garfield and the other is a matching grant.
4. A motion was made by Jon for the Finance Committee to accept the finance items on the warrant. The motion was seconded and approved unanimously.
5. A motion was made by Kenn to accept all of the items on the warrant. The motion was seconded and approved unanimously.
A motion was made and unanimously approved to adjourn the meeting at: 6:15pm
